When are datacenter proxies the right choice?
Whenever the target accepts them — which covers most of the web. Price-per-request is unbeatable: $0.32 per proxy at entry and $0.14 at volume, with unlimited bandwidth. Web scraping of catalogs and directories, SERP and rank monitoring, uptime checks, and price-comparison crawls all run on datacenter pools by default.
The failure mode to watch for is wholesale range blocking: when a target rejects one datacenter IP, it usually rejects the whole subnet. If retries and pool rotation stop helping, that target belongs on residential.
